Megan and Stallion MikeyMegan Violand, 16 comes home with 3 Top Ten Awards from The Arabian Horse Association Youth Nationals!

Megan, a member of the Conejo Valley Arabian Horse Association, won in Hunt Seat Equitation, Hunters over fences and Hunter Hack. Megan has been riding since she was two out at Two Winds Ranch (now Dos Vientos) in Newbury Park. You could get a pony with a saddle and halter on it for $5.00 for as long as you wanted to hike around in the hills. She would say "Mom, can I ride Sparky A Pony?" (Sparky the pony). She also liked to ride the "Quarter" horse outside K-Mart when she was little. Grandpa says that's how she got her start was on a quarter horse. Megan also rode on the beach at Pismo and would ride double with her mother when visiting relatives in Ohio. She also insisted when she first started lessons at Fieldstone on having a lesson in the rain, which they gave her. Since she was 5 she has wanted to be a veterinarian.

Initiated in 1993, Youth Nationals has been The Arabian Horse Association's premier youth event. Family members accompany the young competitors for a week of competition and fun-filled activities. Competition in English, western, side saddle, native costume, working cow, dressage, and hunter disciplines combined with leadership training, games, contests, parades and dance parties make this junior rider event one of the best in the nation.Megan in Hunter over Fences
